Aras Pars Aykus is a Toronto-based interdisciplinary artist, art historian, and community arts worker whose practice bridges visual storytelling, ecology, and collective experience.
He studied European and Contemporary Art at Mimar Sinan Fine Arts University in Istanbul, and his work explores how memory, identity, and environment intertwine through painting, installation, video, and curatorial practice.
Aykus also works in urban agriculture and greenhouse environments at a community centre in Toronto, where he connects ecological practice with artistic process. This engagement with land and community nurtures an ethic of reciprocity and coexistence that lies at the heart of his art.
He often reflects on a phrase that resonates deeply with his journey:
“The closer you are to yourself, the closer you become to all your memories.”
